Virtual Defence Conference

An independent non-governmental organisation based in Paris and London approached First Event in late summer 2020 to move their one day conference to a virtual conference in November.

The defence conference is usually held in Paris annually. However, due to the ongoing pandemic and travel restrictions in place they required a platform for the event that was suitable for members and trustees in both countries.

First Event created a bespoke website for our client that was available in both French and English for delegates in both locations, our client wanted to create a high level virtual conference that also enabled collaboration and interaction between attendee’s.

The regularly organised defence conference has established itself as a key networking event for Franco-British relationships in the defence sector making it highly important that this was translated across to the virtual platform. Therefore, First Event created a custom networking space that enabled delegates to convene during conference breaks.

The bespoke website hosted ten sessions throughout the one day event with an additional two keynote speakers. In order to communicate with delegates in both countries, First Event ensured that simultaneous translation in French and English was available for the sessions and speeches.

The one day conference attracted over two hundred delegates.

The conference went incredibly well, with the client feeding back that they were very impressed with the professionalism and support from the team at First Event, especially with dealing with senior speakers and participants in two languages and a complex agenda.

Delegates were equally impressed with the accessibility of the virtual conference that allowed them to attend and not have to worry about the travel restrictions. We are now working with the client to plan a hybrid event.
