To celebrate their 20th anniversary, our client requested a fun, engaging two-day event that was open to all employees. Requirements for the event included tipi-style shelter on the first night, along with relaxed activities, food options and live music; followed by a casual daytime event with a wide range of activities to keep attendees engaged at all times, and a formal evening compromising a sit-down meal, live music, and a firework display. The client had also already decided on a location, The Mercure Grange Park Hotel in Hull, so we stepped in to manage the event.
Taking all of our client’s requirements and objectives into account, along with ensuring this would fit in with the set location, we suggested and delivered a festival/garden party themed event that we knew could exceed expectations.
Upon arrival on the Friday night, attendees were greeted with welcome drinks, laid-back street food vendors, and live music performed in the tipis set up in the hotel grounds. The convenience of the event being set in the hotel grounds meant that guests could easily get to their rooms after the activities for the night had ended.
The Saturday remained casual and laid-back, with guests enjoying breakfast in the hotel, before activities and games (including giant connect four and jenga, table tennis, air hockey, and table football) for the day commenced in set teams, and concluded with an awards ceremony.
The entire event culminated with a fantastic formal dinner in the Mercure Grange Park, following a drinks reception and including speeches, as well as a celebrity guest appearance by comedian, Russell Kane. Guests then moved back outside for the fireworks display – the highlight of the event for many. This was choreographed to the theme tune of Pirates of the Caribbean, kicking off musical sets by LDN Pop, a DJ and saxophonist for the night.
Overall, the event was received exceptionally well, and exceeded our client’s expectations.
