Building Better Events: We’re Now Carbon Literacy Bronze Accredited

We are proud to announce that we are officially a Carbon Literacy Bronze Accredited Organisation!

This isn’t just a badge for our footer. It represents significant progress in our sustainability work, and in how we plan, and deliver experiences for our clients. To achieve this, we have put over 30% of our team, from event planners to tech innovators, through Carbon Literacy training, which means they’re Carbon Literate too. And, we’re planning to put every single employee owner of First Event through the training before the end of 2026.

What is The Carbon Literacy Project?

The Carbon Literacy Project is a UN-recognised initiative designed to give people the knowledge and confidence to talk about climate change and to take positive action in the workplace and beyond. 

Unlike a standard “green” workshop, this project requires a full day of learning and a formal commitment to action. It’s about moving beyond vague awareness and into genuine understanding, equipping every certified individual to make informed, low-carbon choices in their specific roles. 

From there, organisations can gain certification if they meet certain criteria and demonstrate a genuine commitment to incorporating carbon reduction initiatives into their organisation. Bronze is the first of four possible certification levels.
