Let’s Talk Sustainability Conference & Networking Event

Client

Overview

Our client, a global leader in construction and building materials, is committed to sustainability and ESG excellence. To reinforce this leadership, they partnered with First Event to deliver a high-impact conference and networking experience in London. The goal: bring together 150 industry professionals to explore innovative sustainable practices, foster collaboration, and highlight their ESG commitments.

A man in a suit speaks on stage at the BSL Conference with a banner behind him that reads, Evolving for good - Let's Talk Sustainability. The audience is seated and listening attentively. A digital display in a bright yellow frame shows information about circularity at the BSL Conference, focusing on recovering, recycling, and reusing construction waste at an indoor exhibition with informational panels and brochures. A large interactive digital display with the word Digitalisation and a touch symbol stands in a modern exhibition space at the BSL Conference, next to a shelf holding bricks and a plugged-in device. A digital display at the BSL Conference reads Decarbonisation: We are committed to achieving net zero by 2050 with a button that says, Touch to find out more. The Challenge

The challenge was creating a high-engagement event that authentically reflected our client’s values and inspired action in the sustainable construction community. They event needed to:

  • Demonstrate ESG leadership through sustainable event practices.

  • Engage attendees with meaningful learning and networking opportunities.

  • Showcase innovative, low-carbon construction solutions.

  • Ensure transparency and measurable impact on environmental and social outcomes.

Our Solution

We designed a full-day conference that seamlessly blended education, networking, and sustainability:

  1. Sustainable Venue Selection

133 Houndsditch, a venue with 92% renewable energy, low-energy lighting, elimination of single-use plastics, ethically sourced food, and partnerships with local food charities.

  2. Recyclable and Reusable Materials

All signage and event collateral were designed to minimise waste and promote a circular economy.

  3. Product Showcases & Immersive Experiences

Sustainable products were presented through interactive stands, digital installations, and expert-led sessions to engage attendees in hands-on learning.

  4. Tailored Content & Networking

Pre-event surveys informed session topics and networking discussions, ensuring relevance and meaningful knowledge exchange.

  5. Governance & Transparency

Clear communication of ESG practices, structured sessions, and contributions from industry leaders reinforced accountability and ethical oversight.

  6. A post-event sustainability report

The report measured the event’s environmental footprint, ensuring the experience mirrored the mission of positive environmental and social impact.
