Our 2019 highlights!
Happy new year!
We’re so excited to get stuck into a new year, and if the past 12 months is anything to go by – we’ve got a lot to look forward to.
Read on to find out about some of our highlights of 2019:
Introducing geo creative
Our design department has grown legs and expanded their services, forming GEO Creative – a team of innovative designers that see things differently. The new venture will see our wonderful creatives not only offering their services for events, but also taking enquiries for design work across a wide range of projects and clients.
We raised money for a wonderful cause
Back in May, our Senior Graphic Designer, Charlotte, asked us to help out to raise money for her nephew, Jack – who suffers from Microcephaly, a condition which stunts the development of the brain.
In order to help raise the money needed to provide Jack with the new wheelchair he needed, we organised a 24-hour ‘spinathon.’ We spent a total of 24 hours between everyone taking part on stationary bikes, riding the distance of Leeds to Paris!
The event helped raise the £5,000 needed to ensure that Jack could get the wheelchair he needed.
We hosted our first showcase event
To us, planning events is second nature, and whilst we do it every day for our clients, 2019 marked the first of our own company events – showcasing what we can offer to current and potential clients.
The event took place in the 5-star Curtain Hotel in London, and invited guests to enjoy a night of exploration and discovery into the past, present, and future of event technology.
Continued to expand our team
We love welcoming new people into the First Event family, with over 6 new starters joining us in 2019 across our Business Development, Finance, Operations and Flight departments.
Explored exciting new destinations
From LA and Las Vegas, to Singapore and Tokyo, and Lisbon and Barcelona – we travelled across the globe delivering outstanding events for clients and discovering even more of what the world has to offer.
Embraced being agile
One of the biggest changes to the business this year was the switch to agile working we made at the beginning of 2019.
We value each and every individual and their personal needs, and we wanted our working practices to reflect that. Working flexibly, hot-desking and allowing employees to purchase extra holiday days are just a few of the changes we’ve made to give employees control over their work-life balance.
We worked with incredible clients
We’d be nothing without our amazing clients, and we love being able to work alongside them to deliver outstanding and unforgettable events.
